YOGA BRAIN THERAPY (YOGA FOR THE BRAIN)
In 2002 one of her students developed Alzheimerʼs Disease. When he could no longer participate in her regular yoga classes, his care partners (his son and daughter-in law) asked her to teach him privately 3 times a week. This stimulated Elizabethʼs research in yoga, meditation, and breathing techniques to stimulate the brain, heighten alertness, and achieve a sense of mental equilibrium. The techniques that she uses are also effective for those who wish to delay cognitive decline and manage anxiety and stress. As brain scans have become more sophisticated, the benefits of Eastern healing practices are being validated by Western medicine. Some of the evidence-based techniques that she uses have been subjects of research studies in university medical settings including UCLA, The University of Pennsylvania Medical School, and Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm.
